Life can get messy, and life can get busy, but with a solid cleaning schedule, you can stay on top of it all. So let’s create a cleaning schedule to keep our homes sparkling clean.
When Life Gets Messy
This thing we call life is chaotic and can get messy occasionally. Life is unpredictable, sometimes leaving us stressed and overwhelmed with our day-to-day life. When our homes become cluttered and messy it only adds to the stress and anxiety in our lives. That’s why having a cleaning schedule is essential to help you stay on top of things. By creating a routine and sticking to it, you can maintain a clean and organized living space, even when life gets messy. As a professional cleaner, I don’t always feel like cleaning my home because that is what I do all day long so coming home and maintaining my own house is a challenge sometimes. So I thought, why not create a cleaning schedule to help me stay on top of my day-to-day chores outside of work? It’s crazy, I spend all day making other houses beautiful but am too tired or lack the motivation to clean my own. I will procrastinate until tomorrow and then tomorrow turns into my weekend and I don't want to spend my weekends cleaning thank you. So I decided I’ll do something about it and make myself accountable for making my home just as beautiful as I do others. That’s when I decided I am going to create a cleaning schedule for my home like I do for everyone I clean for. So if you're like me and ready to get your house cleaning schedule under control then let’s do this together and make life a little less messy!
There Is a Method To Madness.
Life has a funny way of throwing curveballs at us when we least expect it. One moment everything is going smoothly, and the next, boom chaos comes knocking. It's easy to feel overwhelmed and defeated when life gets messy, but they say every mess is an opportunity for growth and adventure. Instead of letting the chaos consume us, let's embrace it and turn it into something beautiful. Creating a schedule has a lot of great benefits, starting with helping you establish a routine that will help you manage your time and home by knowing what needs to be done and when. A Cleaning schedule will help you achieve your goals and stay on task. Creating a cleaning schedule will also help with procrastination and disorganization, relieving stress and anxiety. The best part is it allows us to set aside time for ourselves and our families while keeping a tidy house. Start by creating a large weekly schedule that includes tasks that need to be done on specific days. Once you've done that, break the tasks into smaller daily tasks to give you a general idea of what needs to be done and on what day. After you have gotten your regular cleaning schedule under control you'll be ready to move on to different tasks adding in those seasonal and quarterly tasks as you go. I have included a few sample cleaning lists to use as a guide or it may give you an idea how to create your own. Have fun with it and make it your own.
Tackling the Mess Adventurous Style
Creating a cleaning schedule is just the first step. The real adventure begins when we start tackling the mess. It gets so easy to get overwhelmed and then procrastination sets in, but by breaking the tasks into smaller more manageable tasks we can start making some progress. When tackling the mess, It’s important to start small and make it fun. It makes cleaning way more fun when you turn your cleaning task into an exciting adventure. Turn on your favorite tunes, venture into your detective side and go into the depths of clutter and grime, let your imagination run wild. Uncover hidden treasures of cleanliness and you never know what you might find lurking in the shadows or under the sofa. I always find an adventurous spirit and having a positive attitude can turn the most daunting cleaning task into a fun one, it always helps make it a little bit more enjoyable for me. Grab a buddy or the hubby and get them involved. Get the kiddos involved too and make it an adventure and assign tasks to them according to their abilities. Maybe even hide a small prize for them under the couch cushion or under their bed. Be creative and get adventurous with it, trust me it will make cleaning fun for them and you too. Cleaning is something I find very therapeutic when it's someone else's home hahaha so making it an adventure when it comes to cleaning my own home is the only way I get anything done. Remember everything is better when you're having fun!
Sometimes It's the Little Things That Make a Big Difference.
When it comes time to tackle a messy space it’s important to start small by breaking your tasks into manageable chunks and setting aside a manageable time frame to tackle them. It can be tempting to try to tackle everything all at once, but this can often lead to burnout and frustration and in return nothing gets done. Whether you are decluttering out a junk drawer or organizing a closet every little bit helps. Also, when creating your cleaning schedule, it is important to set goals and priorities for yourself. What areas of your life are causing the most chaos? What tasks need to be tackled first? Creating a cleaning schedule is all about setting goals we can achieve don’t overwhelm yourself with a long list that you won’t be able to complete, instead create a smaller list and focus on the areas that most need your attention and are most important to you to finish first and prioritize those tasks accordingly. By setting a smaller organized tasks list you will complete it and you’ll feel more motivated to stick to it and keep going. It may feel like it will take forever to get there but remember every day that you keep going is another day your list will get smaller. Even the smallest tasks are great and noble too! These small tasks may seem insignificant, but they can make a big difference.
Life Happens Stay Flexible and Be Consistent.
Creating a cleaning schedule is one thing but sticking to it well that’s another. Committing yourself to following your schedule and remembering to keep it small, will make completing your tasks much easier. Hold yourself accountable by setting timers on your phone or calendar, and make your list visible so you can see it every day. All of these things will help hold you accountable. Consistency is key when it comes to maintaining a cleaning schedule. Once you have created a cleaning schedule that works for you, stick to it and adjust as needed. Remember to set aside time each day or week to tackle your tasks, and don’t let excuses get in your way. Staying on schedule will prevent messes from growing and pilling up leading you back to discouragement and procrastination. The goal is to move forward not backwards so remembering to stay consistent is important. It is also important to be flexible and willing to adjust your schedule and tasks as needed. Life happens, and sometimes things get in the way that are out of our control that may prevent us from completing our tasks. As your lifestyle and priorities change, update your schedule accordingly so you can stay on target with your cleaning schedule. Tackling life and a cleaning schedule at the same time may seem daunting but it is definitely doable and rewarding as you start to see progress and stick to your cleaning schedule you will start to see the positive impact it has on your life. Take before and after pictures and you will be amazed at the progress you really are making.
It’s Ok To Celebrate the Small Victories Too
As we read earlier, staying motivated, positive, and flexible is key to sticking to and maintaining our cleaning schedules, but so is celebrating our small victories and rewarding ourselves. As we all know cleaning can be a thankless task and we don’t always get the praise we deserve after slaving away for the house to get messed up again and again. I know the feeling all too well trust me as a mother of five and a grandma of three soon to be four I’m right there with you. It can become frustrating and exhausting when we feel like our work is for nothing, but trust me it’s not and every little thing we do is making a difference. That is why it is important to celebrate the small victories we accomplish and acknowledge our hard work no matter how small by rewarding ourselves. Thanking ourselves for a job well done is perfectly ok and much needed sometimes. It gives us the motivation to keep going, keeps us reaching more goals, and even helps our self-esteem. So I say go buy yourself that cute shirt you saw the other day at the mall or order that cute bag in your Amazon cart, reward yourself for a job well done! But remember to stay flexible so you can conquer the mess even when life gets messier - simply take a breath, adjust as needed, get back on track as soon as possible and remember tomorrow is a new day!
